Our People

Bush Heritage Australia has achieved huge growth in both the area of conservation land it owns and in its activities. This has been remarkable to witness and stimulating to be a part of. We have also welcomed the growing involvement of the Australian community in our work.

Led by our committed Board of directors, our skilled staff and volunteers have grasped the challenges arising from this growth.  We now have three specialist ecologists based outside our Melbourne Conservation Support Centre and resident reserve managers on seven reserves across Australia. In addition we have several highly skilled people to our management team, and they have built our technical capacity and our public recognition.

Our reserve staff deserve special mention. They work extremely hard, and often in difficult conditions. Their ‘hands-on’ role is a key to our success as they build important alliances and enduring relationships in rural communities.

But our supporters are the key to our success. Without the support of thousands of Australians who give through their donations or through their time as volunteers we would not be able to achieve what we have. Philanthropic trusts and foundations, conservation organisations, businesses as well as state and federal goverments have supported our work. The National Reserve System Programme has provided significant support for the acquisition of some reserves and particular management work. We sincerely thank all those who have contributed to the work of Bush Heritage Australia.
