Ethabuka Reserve, on the edge of the Simpson Desert, is a land of intriguing contrasts, from its ephemeral wetlands to its vibrant red sand dunes.  A stunning diversity of plants and animals are being protected on this Bush Heritage reserve.

Naturalist Steve Wilson and Reserve Manager Alistair Dermer recount witnessing the incredible transformation of this landscape following rains earlier this year: the flocking waterbirds, the dunes carpeted with wildflowers, the abundance of water in the wetlands and floodplains.
