The information on this page is just for people who haven't volunteered for Bush Heritage before. If you've already volunteered for Bush Heritage, we have your details, and we will email you directly when suitable volunteering opportunities come up.
- If you're interested in becoming a Bush Heritage volunteer, first read the Volunteering FAQs page.
- Next, find a position available that's a good match for you in terms of your interests, skills, fitness and availability. When we need new volunteers, vacancies are advertised on the Volunteering positions page.
- What's next depends on the type of volunteering position you're interested in
(see the Volunteering positions pages for explanations of the types).
- For Volunteer Events, just contact us to reserve your place. There's no selection process; however, it's essential to confirm that there is a place available. We'll ask you to sign a Volunteer Register at the event.
- For all other volunteering position types (Working Bees, Volunteer Ranger, Conservation Support), read the position advertisement carefully to check that you meet the requirements and then please send in a Volunteer Application Form together with a brief statement explaining how you meet each of the requirements for the position you want (please give examples). We only need you to fill out the Volunteer Application Form once (but please let us know if your details change). We will look at the applications and select applicants who best match the job requirements.
Tips for applying
- Please apply as soon as you can.
- We can't guarantee volunteer positions for all. Volunteers who best match the job requirements are selected. Selection is based firstly on merit, secondly on proximity and finally on date of application.
- For positions requiring special skills, telephone interviews and reference checks may be carried out.
- If it is visiting a reserve that interests you, please consider whether one of our guided tours or self-guided tours might be a better option for you than volunteering. To learn more about visiting options, see our Visiting The Reserves page.
