Karak, Much More than a Mascot

March 2006

Karak, the charismatic mascot of the 2006 Commonwealth Games, also represents conservation efforts to save the endangered red-tailed black cockatoo.  On 1 March, the Minister for the Environment and the Minister for the Commonwealth Games donated funds raised from the sale of special edition 'Karak' number plates to environmental groups such as Bush Heritage Australia.
