Charitable groups, such as Bush Heritage, are keen to ensure their funding support doesn't slide as businesses and individuals face higher costs. They say that now, just ahead of the June 30 close of the financial year, is the tax-wise time to be giving.

Bush Heritage Australia acting chief executive Pamela Sutton-Legaud says the tax benefits of donating towards the end of the financial year are particularly important in the current economic climate.
