South-western Australia is a recognised "hotspot' for biodiversity.  Over 25 per cent of Australia's known plants inhabit this two per cent of the nation's land surface.  The region's animal species require continuous corridors of such native vegetation to ensure their long-term survival.

Bush Heritage Australia and other "green keeper" organisations are working together to reconnect and rehabilitate the fragmented habitat in this region, under the auspices of the Gondwana Link project.

Reporter Victoria Laurie speaks to Manager of Gondwana Link, Keith Bradby, about efforts to restore the region's ecosystems through private land conservancy and working with local landholders.
