Bush Heritage says thank-you to the Rural Fire Service

Bush Heritage Australia extend their thanks to the Rural Fire Service for assistance given at the recent fires at Tarcutta Hills Reserve.

In February, bush fires in NSW affected Bush Heritage reserve, Tarcutta Hills. If not for the speed and efficiency used by staff and volunteers of the Rural Fire Service - these fires were contained before developing into a disastrous situation.

The 432 hectare Tarcutta Hills Reserve is of national significance because it protects perhaps the largest area of grassy whitebox woodland in good condition left in Australia. It has unusually high species richness and provides habitat for the nationally threatened turquoise parrot and the nationally endangered swift parrot.

Both our Melbourne staff and on-ground team would like to acknowledge the significant efforts made by all twenty brigades and Kennedy Air in achieving this outcome. Bush Heritage Regional Reserve Manger, Peter Saunders, was particularly appreciative of the direct support given to him on site by both Rick Heiffer and Bruce Angel during and for several days after the fire.

Bush Heritage would like to express their gratitude to all the staff and volunteers of the Rural Fire Service.

For our supporters in areas affected by the fires we will be responsive to your wishes regarding mailing.
