Leanne Liddle appointed to Bush Heritage board

Bush Heritage Australia has appointed Leanne Liddle as a new member of its Board

Ms Liddle is currently the Parks and Wildlife Aboriginal Programs Coordinator for the Department for Environment and Heritage South Australia.

She said she was excited by the chance to be part of an organisation that would have a lasting impact on future generations.

“Bush Heritage Australia’s highly qualified and committed team has earned a reputation for the outstanding work they are doing in the conservation field and I am grateful for the opportunity to help further their goals in Australia.”

Ms Liddle has been employed at the Department for Environment and Heritage South Australia for the past eight years.

She has also worked as a senior project officer at the Aboriginal Lands Trust, and a Senior Constable in the South Australian Police Force.  She is a member of the Arid Lands Natural Resource Management Board, the Natural Resources and Mines (NRM) Aboriginal State Wide Advisory Committee and the NRM Volunteers Committee.

One of her career highlights was representing the Australian and South Australian Government in Brussels, May 2007 at the Energy Globe Awards. Her visit also included a presentation to the EU Parliament on the Kuka Kanyini Project, a plan to increase wildlife preferred by Aboriginal communities for bush tucker in Northern South Australia and lands near Uluru and Warburton.

Ms Liddle has a Bachelor of Applied Science (with a Major in Environmental Science) from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours) from Flinders University.

Bush Heritage Australia Chief Executive Doug Humann said he was thrilled to have recruited such a highly credentialed candidate to the Board.

“We are very fortunate to have attracted someone with Leanne’s knowledge, expertise and passion to what is one of the most important positions in our organisation,” he said.
