Camping at Carnarvon

Bookings are essential - please contact our Reserve Visitation Officer to enquire about available dates and request a Booking Form

Self guided camping provides an opportunity to visit reserves in a fully self sufficient capacity.  This option has been made available to enable people to visit some of our more remote properties, and so requires guests to be well equipped and prepared.  Maps and specific reserve information are provided upon registration.

Camping at Carnarvon Reserve is available between April and October.

To be eligible to camp:

  • Bookings MUST made through our Reserve Visitation Coordinator.
  • A maximum of one week stay only.
  • Maximum 8 people - in no more than four 4WD vehicles.
  • Only high clearance 4WD vehicles.
  • Visitors must carry a UHF radio in the group.
  • You must be totally self-sufficient for the duration of your stay, including food, fuel, water, vehicle maintenance & recovery equipment and camping equipment.
  • Addition supplies should be carried as events may lead to an unplanned extended stay (i.e following rain, roads can become impassable).
  • All vehicles that enter the reserve need to undergo a rigorous washdown process to assist in the prevention of weeds spread and invasion. This can take a minimum of 1/2hr per vehicle.
  • No pets or firearms allowed.
  • Camping permitted only in designated camp ground.
  • Cost: Supporters $25 per vehicle; non-supporters $100 per vehicle. You have exclusive use of the camp ground facilities for up to one week per booking.
