Landscape and Topography

Mareeba Rock Wallaby by Wayne LawlerThe soils and topography of Yourka are particularly diverse. Numerous creeks and rivers spill down from the range and cut their way through different types of underlying rock.

The Herbert River, and creeks such as Cameron, Sunday, Gorge, Blunder and Basalt creeks, and the billabongs and swamps that they supply, all vary in their flow rates, turbidity, and the rich aquatic life that they support.

Rocky ranges in the east of the property provide ideal habitat for the Mareeba rock wallaby.
