Reserve Management
Initially our management objectives at Boolcoomatta are based on setting up the reserve for conservation management and implementing baseline surveys to evaluate the biodiversity. Biodiversity monitoring will be an on-going project with the assistance of groups such as Scientific Expedition Group and the South Australian Mammal Society. This will include the use of cage, Elliott, pitfall and harp traps, bird surveys, flora surveys and permanent photo points to record the impacts of the changed land use.
Other management priorities are to introduce ourselves to the community and promote an understanding of the aims of Australian Bush Heritage Fund and management objectives for Boolcoomatta Reserve. Issues such as weeds, feral animals, artificial water points, fire management, fencing and infrastructure maintenance are also part of the annual works plan.
