Cooperative Conservation Management: A Model for the Future - Nature Refuge News
December 2007
Reedy Creek Reserve in central Queensland is a 452 hectare coastal property situated on the urban fringes of the townships of Agnes Water and 1770. Unlike most Bush Heritage Reserves, its management is funded by its residential neighbours. The residents and body corporate of "Sunrise at 1770", an award-winning residential development, collaborate with Bush Heritage to manage the reserve for conservation outcomes.
In this month's Nature Refuge News, Steve Heggie explains this unique management arrangement and the value of such collaborations for achieving Bush Heritage's conservation goals.
