Our Strategy - an overview

Anchors in the Landscape

Bush Heritage land acquisition and management for biodiversity conservation in Australia 2005 to 2025.

Bush Heritage strives to protect for the long term the unique and abundant diversity of life in Australia. We achieve this by acquiring and managing land, water and wildlife of outstanding conservation significance.

We are committed to protecting our reserves for the long term, thus the ongoing costs of management are taken into account when properties are first assessed for acquisition.

Once properties are purchased, Bush Heritage collaborates constructively with the owners of neighbouring properties, and other stakeholders such as individual and corporate pastoralists, governments, other conservation organisations and indigenous groups, to encourage regional conservation outcomes.

Bush Heritage will be working in five ‘Anchor’ regions in Australia, focusing its active conservation investment in those regions, or on specific project s within those regions. Key property acquisitions within these regions will secure a key ecological assets,  and from these 'anchors' we will develop programs with others to extend conservation management of land out into the region.

Once acquired, we will actively build capacity for conservation management beyond the boundaries of our reserves.
