We've been enjoying plenty of bird life on Bon Bon as the weather cools and there's plenty of greenery following the good rains in autumn... but a snake was not what we were expecting to see out and about on a cool winter's morning!
This clever mulga snake Pseudechis australis (or king brown) had found a nice spot in the sun and out of the brisk south-west wind.
I'd been tidying up some weeds and was starting to feel a little warm, so I had just taken off my jumper and was about to hang it on the old gate at the end of the building... but at that point I decided that was not such a good idea... time to grab a camera (and zoom lens) instead!
A handsome specimen indeed.
