Sharing a journey through big country

on 05 Sep 2016

Through two weeks of leave in August I was privileged to join Bush Heritage partner and Monjebup Reserve neighbour Bill Thompson from Yarraweyah Falls end-to-ending the Larapinta Trail through West MacDonnell National Park due west of Alice Springs.

We started at the western end and the two of us climbed, scrambled, rock-hopped and route-marched our way back east to Alice over 13 days.

Huge, stunning country, and a nice first visit to central Oz. Views to die for, but also to stop for, 'cos if you don't watch your every step you'll likely roll an ankle.

Potentially very tough on the feet, which is the cause of most bail-outs. Ours fortunately held together.

Huge thanks to my hiking mate and route-march sergeant Bill for great company, and sharing remarkable country and a wonderful experience.
