2020 was a year that none of us expected. It started off with the Black Summer and those huge plumes of smoke. The grief, the devastation. And then we had the global pandemic.
But through all of that I've been buoyed by the stories of hope and resilience. The stories from our reserves of our teams just getting on with doing the work – of fighting fire, ferals and weeds. Of Traditional Owners who've been working in their communities keeping them safe while working in the land. And our office staff, who often had to work from home while they had a pet at their feet or juggled the joys of home-schooling.
Through this all we have learnt resilience.
A big thank-you to our volunteers who were able to help us on many of the reserves or helped us behind the scenes because they couldn't get across state borders. For those of you that have helped us in so many ways, by thinking about the next 5, 10, 15, 20 years – by leaving us a gift in your Will. Thank-you so much. You will make the future possible.
As we head into this holiday season, please stay safe, enjoy the time with friends and family and please get out into the Australian bush, whether it be a park in your local city or a little bit further afield, enjoy this amazing place that we all live in. Thank you.
