Controlling Siam weed at Yourka Reserve

Published 20 Nov 2017

At Yourka Reserve in the Upper Herbert River catchment, Reserve Managers Paul and Leanne Hales have been working on the control of siam weed for almost a decade. After trialling a range of control methods, they've established an effective approach and, with the help of contractors and volunteers, have reduced weed numbers by over 90% across the treatment area.

The repeated control pattern of burn-survey-spray has brought one of the biggest infestations in the Southern Tablelands under control and proves that persistence does pay off.
