Today we’re incredibly proud and excited to announce that Volkswagen Group Australia is making a $1 million donation to our conservation work – the largest donation in Volkswagen’s history.
The funding is part of Volkswagen’s $2.5 million commitment to bushfire recovery following the Black Summer bushfires.
It will be directed to our Scottsdale Reserve in southern New South Wales, which was severely impacted by bushfire in February, as well as to our Eurardy Reserve in mid-west Western Australia.
The donation will help us plant 20,000 native plants, trees and shrubs across 400 hectares of Scottsdale, replacing the large sections of revegetation work destroyed by the fire.
We're already seeing positive signs of regeneration at Scottsdale, but this donation allows us to give the reserve the extra boost it sorely needs.
The funding will also enable us to undertake critical weed control, sediment and erosion work along the Murrumbidgee River and cultural heritage surveys with the Traditional Custodians.
