Our reserves in South Australia protect over 514,000 hectares. Our conservation work here is focused on the arid rangelands region where we've converted three former pastoral properties into nature reserves.

Boolcoomatta

Established: 2006
Area: 63,000 ha
Location: 100 km west of Broken Hill

Open mulga woodlands and natural waterholes support species such as Blue Bonnets and Red-backed Kingfishers. Down on the saltbush plains are Orange Chats, Chirruping Wedgebills and large flocks of Emus. Set against the dramatic Olary Ranges.

Bon Bon Station

Established: 2008
Area: 216,700 ha
Location: 650 km north west of Adelaide

Its desert landscape is dotted with shimmering salt lakes, wetlands, myall trees and pearl bluebush. Sits between the Great Victoria Desert and the saltpan lakes of Eyre, Torrens and Gairdner.

Bon Bon Station

Evelyn Downs

Established: 2024
Area: 235,000 ha
Location: 150 km north of Coober Pedy

Huge reserve in the Painted Desert region, which was once an ancient inland sea. Known for its spectacular rocky outcrops with coloured ochres, yellows and whites, emerging from flat chenopod country.
