Explore the rich diversity of flora and fauna on Charles Darwin Reserve, which falls within Australia’s only internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot. There’s no shortage of animals roaming these ancient woodlands and wildflower-strewn plains.
The Reserve is located 355km north-east of Perth in Western Australia’s mid-west. The nearest town is Perenjori about 60km to the west. Traditional custodians are the Badimaya people
You’ll set up camp at Samphire Campground, surrounded by a grove of paperbarks. On your walks or drives around the reserve, you might spot Malleefowl, Major Mitchell Cockatoos, Peregrine Falcons or Australian Bustards. Or perhaps lizards sunning themselves on the picturesque rocky outcrops that dot the property.
And at sunset, you’ll be able to take in the unforgettable view across the plains to Mt Singleton.
Download our Camping Guide above for details of the facilities, vehicle requirements and preparation you’ll need to be self-sufficient. Contact Katrina Blake on (03) 8610 9124 or [email protected] if you have any follow up questions.
There are a number of self-guided driving tours around the property and we recommend a minimum stay of 2 days.
There’s no camping fee but donations are greatly appreciated and help us continue to protect reserves such as Charles Darwin.
