Fairy Wren Gift Card

Birds
$25
Fairy wren 6x4

The breeding males of the Purple-backed Fairy-wren (Malurus assimilis) sport chestnut shoulders and an azure crown, and are considered an extremely vocal and gregarious species.

These birds have the largest distribution of all Australian fairywrens: they are found across much of the continent where vegetative scrubland provides dense cover. However, native vegetation clearing, and consumption of saltbush by cattle are negatively impacting the species.

This fairywren was photographed on our Hamelin Reserve, Malgana country, in Western Australia.

This bushgift helps support Bush Heritage’s work. To find out more about the birds we protect, visit our website: BushHeritage.org.au/species
