In a very special part of NSW’s arid inland, water is hope for birds like the Royal Spoonbill and White-necked Heron. Nil Desperandum is a property with vital wetlands for protection.

When it rains, tens of thousands of waterbirds flock to their breeding sites at Yantabulla Swamp, a wetland of national significance, and to Cuttaburra Creek, the waterway that feeds it. Now Bush Heritage has a long-awaited opportunity to better protect this vital but vulnerable ecosystem.

Nil Desperandum (meaning ‘nothing to despair of’) is a 4,037-hectare property that sits beside Yantabulla Swamp and directly across the Cuttaburra Creek from our Naree Reserve. By purchasing Nil Desperandum we will be able to protect both sides of the creek and create 35,000 hectares of contiguous land managed for conservation.

This special bushgift supports our work acquiring and restoring Nil Desperandum. Thank you for helping us protect this wetland habitat.
