Conservation Land Management Intern 2026
I’m an early career ecologist with a background in conservation and biosecurity. Through my field experience in fauna monitoring, trapping programs and ecological surveys, I’ve developed a particular interest in invasive species management and the role it plays in supporting biodiversity.
I'll be contributing to the development of a vertebrate pest management strategy for a priority species. This involves reviewing scientific literature, synthesising ecological and behavioural information, and translating findings into practical, on-ground management guidance.
I’m looking forward to further developing my skills in applied conservation and contributing to work that has tangible outcomes for native biodiversity and ecosystem health. Having worked in the field for the last few years, I’m especially motivated to help develop conservation projects that bridge research and operational management.
Ecology Intern at the Round House 2026
Since I was little, I’ve had a strong passion for the natural world and the critters we share it with. I completed my Bachelor of Science at Monash Uni, followed by an Honours year in collaboration with Bush Heritage, where I focused on macropod monitoring at Victorian reserves. This experience solidified my enthusiasm for science-based conservation and prepared me well for my current role.
During my internship, I’m conducting the first deer monitoring study at the Round House reserve. I’m using scat-based surveys, camera trap footage and exclusion plots to understand the presence of deer species, their abundance, and their impacts on native vegetation. Looking ahead, I hope to continue contributing to wildlife conservation through Australian not-for-profit organisations, as well as expanding on my volunteering overseas.
